The process for selecting a disc coupling is
outlined on page 16. As a guide, the
suggested service factors are applicable to
the procedure are shown below. The
different ranges of coupling are
designed to suit specific application areas
as described in the relevant sections of
the brochure. As such, stress levels, etc., in
certain units, together with the predicted
installation accuracy, dictate the use of


slightly different factors. These are
coupling range specific. and are sectioned
as such below.

The following list does not specify
individual machine types but groups by
nature of the Driver & Driven equipment.

Service Factor Selection
Note: Only the largest factor of Driver or driven need be selected-
eg. with factors B & c selected for use on a general purpose coupling,
only a factor of 2.0 need be applied.
API671 specifies, and Bibby Turboflex
recommend, a 1.5 service factor be applied
as a minimum to the HS couplings.
